What Are Menus?

Akia's Menu is a form of Rich Attachment that can be texted to guests. Properties can create digital menus and allow guests to order food and drink options remotely from the comfort of their mobile phones.

Adding Additional Options to an Item

💬
Certain dishes may require the person to provide additional selection. For example, you can choose to add grilled chicken to your caesar salad or choose a side of fries or fruits with your burger.

  1. Once you have created an item, click on the item
  1. Select Add Options at the bottom of the popup screen
      • Option Name: a descriptive name of the option, e.g., Sides
      • Option Type: how the option is presented to the user
        • Radio: select this option if the user must pick one option from a list. For example, when ordering breakfast eggs, you can let the user pick from a list — scrambled, sunny side up, over easy, over medium, or over hard.
        • Checkbox: select this option if the user can choose zero or more items from a list. For example, when ordering pancakes, you can let the user choose whether they want add-ons from a list — a side of bacon, a side of sausages, or extra pancakes.

Akia Tip: More demand than supply for the day? Mark the item as Out of Stock. Out-of-stock items will still show up in the Menu, but the user won't be able to add that item to their cart.

How Do I Edit a Menu?

You can click on the Edit button next to the Menu name to edit the Menu’s name, description, key, sales tax, delivery, notification options, etc.

Clicking Deactivate will pause the Menu and prevent it from being sent to a guest - you are able to reactivate the menu at any time by clicking on the Edit button again and clicking Activate. Similarly, to edit the name or description of a category, simply click the Edit button to the right of + New Item. You will also be able to delete any categories here.

You can click on any item to bring up the popup window to edit the name, price, etc. In the popup window, you are also able to delete the item or mark it as out of stock.

If you find yourself needing to send Menus frequently on the Mobile App, you can create a Macro and link the Menu for easy access.

QR Code

Reach out to us via the Support Chat in your Inbox or at help@akia.com and we can help you generate a QR Code for your Menus. This will allow guests to scan the qr code to order, rather than going back to their messages for the link, and won’t be attached to a specific guest’s profile.

Use Cases

  1. ☎️ Room Service: Include a Menu in your Booklet or arrival message to encourage guests to order room service.
  1. 🤾 Sell Activities and Other Services: offer additional non-food items to guests within a Menu. Give guests the option to purchase spa treatments, excursion packages, or other offerings for their stay.
